Communal heating replacement across a three-block estate.

The old district heating system was leaking in two blocks, so we replaced the distribution pipework in stages, isolating one block at a time. Each block was reconnected and flushed before the next was shut down, so residents only lost heat for a single day. The new controls were labelled and the housing office was shown how to set the schedules.

Practical plumbing, done properly

Jamsupport Support Advisory grew out of a simple observation: most plumbing problems are straightforward once someone actually looks at them, but too many jobs are quoted over the phone and finished in a hurry. We set out to do the opposite — to survey every job in person, price it honestly, and leave the site as clean as we found it. Six years on, most of our work still comes from the same streets, from neighbours and shopkeepers who kept our number.

We handle the unglamorous end of the trade: a dripping valve, a boiler that locks out at 2am, a kitchen sink that backs up on a Sunday morning. For larger work, we plan around the household — a bathroom fit-out is booked for when the kids are at school, a heating upgrade is scheduled for the summer, and an emergency call is triaged so the worst leak is seen first.

We are not a large firm, and we do not want to be. The same two engineers who quote a job are the ones who do the work, so the person who measures the pipework knows where it goes. We carry the common parts in the van, which means most repairs are finished in a single visit, and we test every joint under pressure before we leave.

We are clear about what we do not do: no gas work on commercial catering equipment, no drainage work beyond the boundary, no structural alteration. If a job falls outside our scope, we will say so and point you to someone who can help. We would rather lose a job for the right reason than take it on and do it badly.

Every job is left tidy: dust sheets go down, shoe covers go on, and the old parts go in the van. We flush the system, we check for leaks, and we walk you through what we did before we leave. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and it is why most of our work comes from recommendations.

An engineer comes to the site, sees the issue first-hand, and checks access, isolation points and the condition of the existing pipework.

The same engineer returns, completes the job, tests everything under pressure, and leaves the space as tidy as they found it.
